How does hydro excavation work?

Hydro excavation is a fantastic way to excavate materials because of how reliable and safe the method is. Traditional excavation alternatives can be hazardous, particularly when the job site is close to sewage, telecommunication lines, fibre optic lines and power lines.

Hydro excavation involves two main processes - firstly, a jetting rod is used to spray highly pressurised water at the surface in order to break it. This technique works well with most surfaces such as mud, grass, dirt or clay. The second process involves a high volume suction vacuum which sucks up the water and debris into a containing tank. Hydro excavation is great for a range of applications, such as confined digging, trenching, potholing, mains or service exposure, utility service repairs and more.
